Einstein's Garden goes on tourPosted Fri 25 Sep. 2015

The Garden is growing! We're taking our celebrations of science, art and nature on tour with the support of an award from the Wellcome Trust.

What an amazing time we had in the Garden at this year’s Green Man. Edible insects, gesture-controlled music, a science ceilidh… We even got a shout-out from Father John Misty on the Mountain Stage, who was intrigued by our Death Cafe.

As always, the real highlight was watching thousands of you exploring the Garden - getting stuck in to our workshops, chatting with scientists and encountering our wonderful world of science and nature.

This part of the year is normally the hardest - nearly a whole year until we’re back at the festival! Fortunately, this year we’ve got some exciting news...

Einstein's Garden presents... Sandscape | Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival, 10 & 11 October 2015

Sandscape was a real highlight of this year's Einstein's Garden. Every day, young festivalgoers helped transform eight tonnes of sand into amazing landscapes complete with mountains, valleys, skyscrapers and power stations. Then, with the help of a little dry ice and some bubbles, scientists from the Met Office and the University of Exeter brought the Sandscape to life.

If you missed out on Sandscape, you've got another chance to get your hands sandy! We'll be bringing it to the Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival on the 10th and 11th October. These free workshops take place at 11am, 1pm and 3pm each day, on the beach area to the west of Bournemouth Pier. Einstein's Garden on Tour...

Sandscape is just the beginning; one of four special projects that we developed alongside some fantastic scientific partners, and which debuted at Green Man. Each of these creative fusions of art and science will be popping up in unexpected places across the UK over the next year.

All of this is made possible by the support of an award from the Wellcome Trust. To stay updated about all these plans, you can follow Einstein's Garden on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Your Lost Organ
You once had a placenta — an organ lost when your mother gave birth to you, but certainly not a spare part. Join scientists and artists for this playful exploration of what the placenta is and does. Warning: You may get messy. In partnership with the University of Bristol.
