The @ symbol is a perfect — and perfectly un-Googleable — name for a musical collaboration first formed over text and email in the lonesome depths of the pandemic. When their creators couldn’t travel, their songs could, moving back and forth between Philadelphia and Baltimore, the respective home cities of Victoria Rose and Stone Filipczak. Their first album, Mind Palace, didn’t sound like the digital age it was born in, instead harking back to the breezy harmonies of 60s and 70s outsider folk-pop. But 2024’s Are You There God? It’s Me, @ — borrowing the title of the Judy Blume classic — upped the electronic ante.
