A person in a balaclava

TaliaBle

“I wanted to be outlandish. I wanted to be a spectacle.” In her handmade costumes — most often, a white knitted balaclavas studded with buttons and embroidery — TaliaBle achieves all that and more, an experimental punk rapper and visual artist who puts Black queer experience and British youth culture to music. The north Londoner and moshpit disruptor has studied at Central St Martins, directed music videos for Nia Archives and Obongjayar, and released a new EP, All Desires Trouble Us, which even contains a track inspired by Led Zeppelin’s Whole Lotta Love. Her favourite part of music is being on stage: “It marries the visual with the music for me. It’s about experience and creating a feeling in the room. It is chaos: a bunch of different ideas at once."
