Kelly Lee Owens grew up an eyelinered indie girl playing bass and drums in a small village in North Wales. Now she’s an in-demand electronic musician and producer, a recipient of the Welsh Music Prize who’s collaborated with Björk, St Vincent and John Cale, toured arenas with Depeche Mode, and recently signed to high-profile new label dh2. Her new album Dreamstate, made with Bicep and one half of the Chemical Brothers, deviates from previous iterations of lo-fi bedroom pop, shoegaze, and dark ambient techno: instead mostly opting for the communal euphoria of the dancefloor.
