“Bespectacled polymath” Lincoln Barrett, the man behind the High Contrast moniker, grew up in Penarth listening to film soundtracks for Bladerunner and A Clockwork Orange, before drum and bass caught his ear. After twenty busy years as an electronic music producer, DJ, and record producer, he’s going back to where he started — hearing early 2000s liquid drum and bass at the iconic London club night Swerve — and his new album Restoration offer a contemporary update on that music: lo-fi, organic, warm, “full of dusty samples and soulful melodies”.
