Flip flops, jerry cans, car parts, PVC tubing: Fulu Miziki have built an orchestra from found objects, to the extent that their name literally translates as “music from garbage”. The eco-friendly, Afrofuturist-punk Congolese collective have been giving a second life to rubbish since 2016, turning it into instruments, costumes, and masks to highlight the effects of global pollution and the world’s treatment of Africa as a “dumping ground”.
