Once described by Phoebe Bridgers as “Boygenius if it was from the 1940s or something”, Melbourne’s Folk Bitch Trio are “a little bit folk, a tiny bit alt-indie-rock, confessional, three part harmony”. Unserious name aside, they deal in the same kind of understated, elegant contemporary alt-folk as The Staves or First Aid Kit, inspired by artists like Wilco, Gillian Welch, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams and Aldous Harding — and a healthy measure of sunny Australian optimism.
