Cardiff crate-digger and beatmaker Don Leisure has spent decades developing an encyclopedic knowledge of music, first as late noughties drum’n’bass producer Jamal, then as one half of Darkhouse Family. Now he puts his expertise to good use on new album Tyrchu Sain, which translates from Welsh to “Digging Sain”: on which he rummages through the entire catalogue of Sain, Wales’ oldest independent record label, and distils its dusty magic into one album, with help from fellow countrymen including Gruff Rhys and Carwyn Ellis.
