Divorce

You won’t have heard of Goldenhammer, but you’ll know it: according to Divorce, it’s a fictional destination that symbolises a place of intangible yearning. The Nottingham group decamped to rural North Yorkshire to record their imminent debut album, Drive to Goldenhammer: a patchwork of alt-country, camp chamber pop, Americana folk, and British sarcasm. The band’s sense of vaudeville and eerie nostalgia is informed by Belle & Sebastian, Queen, and Perfume Genius, and their recent upwards rise in indie music circles suggests they’re in the car speeding towards Goldenhammer themselves — and towards Green Man this summer.
