“Outernational” is how Grup Şimşek describe themselves, headed by Hamburg-born Turkish multi-instrumentalist Derya Yildirim with the rest of the band from France and South Africa. Formed in 2014 and with new album Yarın Yoksa on the cusp of release, they marry Anatolian folk with hypnotic psychedelia, suffusing traditional sound with new twists: supplying new soul to old melody.
