Hatched from a giant egg left in a meteoric crater, or crossing paths on a large schooner sailing on a pasta-tasting tour of the Pacific, as mid-1700s chimney sweeps or Middle England shoemakers, or undercover on earth from an alien universe: Being Dead’s origin story never stays still, but nor does their music. The Austin duo — known to the world as Falcon Bitch and Shmoofy — are best friends and multi-instrumentalists who’ve just released their second album EELS: “a 16-track record that is genuinely unpredictable from one track to the next” and captures the high-octane spark and banality allergy of their rowdy and capricious live shows.
