Astles

In his grandmother’s attic one day, Dan Astles came across the music collection of his late uncle. Records, posters, ticket stubs, memorabilia: a life lived through music. There was a mixtape, too, called Soundtrack For The 21 Bus Home, a collection of songs that inspired the title and contents of Astles’s upcoming debut album: pop, acoustic, spoken word, stranger stuff — and an appearance from Bill Ryder-Jones, who plays strings and riffs to a Super Mario remix on the lead single. Astles writes songs backlit by the warm community of his home city of Liverpool, and the love from family and friends — those present and those missing.
