Aga Ujma

Aga Ujma often comes up with ideas for new songs while singing on a Lime bike, testing out new melodies and phrases while wheeling through the streets of London. Her songs feel like home, which doesn’t necessarily mean they sound anything like the British capital: her favourite instruments are the East Indonesian bamboo zither sasando, the Central Javanese zither siter, and the metallophone gendér barung, after all. The Polish multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and composer incorporates elements from the traditional folk of her Polish upbringing, her classical music training, minimalist production styles, Indonesian instrumentation, and playful experimentation — like body percussion and “broken Gameboy sounds”.
