Pink silence describes early morning and ealing evening, “when you get this sort of strange ethereal light in the sky. It can mean one of two things: something which feels blissfully serene or something charged with a real sense of foreboding.” Glasgow’s Cloth — aka twins Rachael and Paul Swinton — have named their newest album after this natural phenomenon. It’s produced by Ali Chant and features Portishead’s Adrian Utley, Owen Pallett, and Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite, but despite all the heavy-hitting names, the album retains the duo’s sense of quiet drama, where space does the talking. Their mix of gentle guitar pop and feather-light vocals recalls The XX a pop sensibility held in check by deceptive simplicity.
