Not many producers and DJs can boast of having a PhD in computational biology, but Max Cooper is not your average producer. Scientific enquiry seeps into all the Belfast-born, London-based artist does, from epic immersive audio-visuals and albums of experimental electronica to spatial audio, fine art sound design and regular thrilling festival sets. Genes and drum machines aside, it’s the natural world that inspires him the most: “it has more intricate beauty than we can ever create ourselves.”
