Paul Thomas Anderson’s psychedelic mystery Inherent Vice and Noah Baumbach’s bittersweet hipster comedy While We’re Young are two recent releases guaranteed to keep even the most fastidious film buff satisfied.
We’re particularly chuffed to announce that Golden Globe-nominated film Pride will appear at this year’s festival. With its story inspired by the triumphant LGBT-miner alliance from nearby village Onllwyn, you won’t find a more fitting place to watch the action unfold. Elsewhere in our Wales-inspired schedule, we’ve got the festival premier of a brand new adaptation of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood, and Ivor Novello’s career defining role in Alfred Hitchcock’s silent film The Lodger will be sound-tracked live by veteran musical score performers Minima.
Then there’s a nostalgia-flavoured revival of Patrick Swayze’s forgotten romp Road House, BDSM-themed arthouse adventures in The Duke of Burgundy, a candied assortment of family friendly films including Paddington, Shaun The Sheep Movie and The Iron Giant, and two more live scored delights in the form of Drifters and Jodorowsky’s cult flick The Holy Mountain against a live score performed by Asteroid Deluxe.
