In the Jungle, the mighty Jungle..Posted Wed 16 Mar. 2016

Something is stirring in the Jungle. This year at Green Man, kids (and their adults) can let their imaginations go wild in a jungle-themed paradise!

Little Folk is our all-encompassing children’s area, packed with colourful creations and tree-swinging tykes. With adventures awaiting everyone from the tiniest explorers to the most intrepid 12-year-olds, it’s perfectly plonked next to the family camping area and bursting with fun for young festival goers. After last year’s pirate-themed shenanigans, this year’s theme for Little Folk is the jungle! Against the backdrop of our lush green mountains, children can go ape in their own miniature wilderness, populated with a wide array of wildlife-themed activities and unforgettable outdoor adventures. Don't forget all the fun in Little Folk is completely free, there's no extra cost for any activities!

And don't forget to pull on your best Jungle themed costume for a wonderfully wild Little Folk parade - Sunday 21st at 4pm (ish). Keep an eye on the Little Folk page for a few competitions and fun goings on coming up.

There’s arts and crafts abound in Nelly’s Workshop. Kids can create their own brightly coloured bird of paradise puppets with Enchanted Puppets, build eco-friendly animal masks from recycled material with Moona Craft or make giant elephants and jungle badges with Green Man regulars Junkfish. Mischievous walkabout theatre from the performing monkeys at Ellyfish and Things plus wandering circus workshops from Circus Thirty Six will mean there’s never a dull moment in the jungle. Elsewhere, The Flying Seagulls will be swooping in with tightropes, clowning and comedy for kids, while a whimsical show from I See Magical Creatures involves helping out a confused lion who’s become lost in the jungle.

Budding young performers will enjoy interactive puppetry and share-the-stage silliness with Anonymous Bosh, plus there’s drumming and songwriting workshops from musical mollusc Rocktopus to keep those tribal beats pounding.

Every animal needs a playground where they can feel like king of the swingers, so our Woodland Tribe adventure playground area will be filled with dens, hideaways and amazing natural structures to safely clamber around on. Bouncy chimps can burn off the rest of their energy in the Monkeying Around tent, which has been taken over by pedal-powered gizmos, games, music and challenges courtesy of Pedal Emporium.

Parents and their babies will find a quiet spot to relax in our Tiger Temple, with family yoga sessions and roaming reflexologists bringing bliss to the tranquil tropics. Chilled-out bilingual storytelling sessions also take place here, including tales of ninja meerkats and steampunk pirates from award-winning children’s author Gareth Jones. Alternatively, bring your little one along to one of our Baby and Toddler Bop music workshops, or just kick back to the foot-tapping folk ditties of The Brwmys.

Young ‘uns won’t have to wait long for their adventure to begin when they arrive at Green Man – this year we’re opening Little Folk at noon on Thursday 18th August for six extra hours of jungle fun!

PS - In other news, Somewhere will be returning as a fully fledged area for GM16. We'll be letting you know about that very soon!
